  • I have used Metformin for several years and managed to not need shots for my late onset diabetes, but now see I have genes that would indicate Metformin may not be the best choice for me. Has anyone found something else that's more effective, or noticed any effects that showed Metformin wasn't working well for them?

My doctor just started me on BERBERINE. She told me to get it as Glycosolve from Leaner Living, which you can buy on Amazon. It works without blocking absorption of B vitamins like Metformin does. I've been on Metformin for a while, and now I have to take a B vitamin supplement because Metformin gave me a B vitamin deficiency. It's too early to tell how the berberine will work for me, but she has another patient who got excellent results, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

If you eat a very low carbohydrate diet (finally has been proven to be a superior diet), you may be able to eliminate your metformin. It is a huge lifestyle change for sure, but might save your life.

Just so you know, apparently, if you have any of the main MTHFR Gene mutations and take Metformin. This drug is reported to use up Methylfolate so you'd need extra supplementation of this supplement
